Holiday scents: writer Alex G. Brown shares her favourites

The Whale & The Rose team gets into the giving spirit this year by sharing our own favourite holiday scents.

Contributing writer Alex G. Brown shares her favourite smells of the holiday season and lets us in on what she hopes to find in her Christmas stocking this year.

My favourite holiday scents

My favourite holiday smell is of matches. My family always burns candles after dinner during the holidays, or anytime in the evening while we enjoy some snacks and warm drinks. Matches (or rather the sulfur dioxide smell of just-lit matches) remind me of the time we spend distracted by nothing else but each’s other’s company and the treats that go along with the season.

Maison Martin Margiela Lazy Sunday Morning rollerball has been on my mind lately. It’s a comforting fragrance that has dual purpose for me—one, simply because I love the warmth of the scent, and two, because I want something I can throw in my purse and carry with me.
