Summer perfumes and sandals to match

By Alexandra Donaldson

Sultry or citrusy scents and sexy sandals: There are so many reasons to love summer. On that note, we’ve decided to have a little fun and pair some of the season’s limited edition, summer fragrances with some of our favourite easy-going slip-on and strappy beach-ready shoes. There’s a duo for every type of summer style personality, from sun-kissed and shimmery to pretty and punchy pink!

On this summer theme, we’re channeling the spirit of the summer music festival too, and all that laid-back sexy style. We loved the laissez-faire attitude as seen here at Glamour. So cheeky, so fun. Check out‘s Coachella coverage too.

This summery Guerlain perfume brings to mind bronzed skin and golden hair—though you need not have either to feel like a golden goddess. Bergamot, tiare flower and vanilla are luxurious enough for a night out, but subtle enough to mingle beautifully with your sunscreen on the beach. Pair with something equally as versatile—these gilded flip-flops from The Gap will move from the pool to the bar without a hitch.

This zesty summer scent from Calvin Klein is an energetic, citrus perfume. Top notes of lime and lemon peel mingle with ginger, cucumber and patchouli. Such a sparkling perfume calls for a sandal with equal pizzazz. These silver slides from Forever 21 will keep you cool as a cucumber—which, by the way, is another note that you’ll enjoy in this standout scent.

Jean Paul Gaultier’s Classique perfume gets an update with this summer edition via notes of clementine, orange blossom, jasmine, iris and musk. Inspired by a hot Indian summer, this scent is floral and fruity with a touch of zest and spice. The painterly bottle is the inspiration for our sandal pick—colourful, flirty, irreverent and made to be seen.

Roses and the beach don’t often go hand-in-hand, but Thomas Sabo’s summer scent is fresh and warm with a subtle summer bouquet that includes floral notes. Pair with these dramatic flower-print flip-flops and a go-with-the-flow maxi dress for optimum impact.

Thomas Sabo Charm Rose Beach, $69 (50 ml),

Ted Baker Floral flip-flops, $76,

This fruity floral fragrance is girly and sweet, a cheery touch even on hot, humid, overcast days. Pink grapefruit and lychee sparkle, while passion fruit and guava add warmth, and floral and vanilla notes soften the sweetness. Our advice: Pair pink with pink and you can’t go wrong. These classic Old Navy flip-flops are the perfect summer staple—and affordable enough to stock up in every colour—to wear with this pretty and lighthearted, feminine floral perfume.

Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey, $78 (100 ml),

Old Navy Pink flip-flops, $5,
